About True-Flite · Gisborne, New Zealand

Precision is our trade.
Shooting is our passion.

A barrel carries our name long after it leaves the workshop. That matters to us. True-Flite brings New Zealand barrel manufacturing, hands-on engineering and specialist gunsmithing together in Gisborne—backed by a manufacturing history that began in 1995.

Meet the owner

Anthony Walsh

Machinist. Gunsmith. Shooter.

Anthony’s interest in firearms began with a childhood curiosity about how things worked. Target shooting led to duck shooting, hunting and later pistol shooting — interests that eventually became part of his working life.

A Mechanical Engineering Trade Certificate, more than 15 years of machining experience and NZQA gunsmithing qualifications give Anthony a practical foundation for the work that leaves this workshop.

As owner and operator, Anthony oversees barrel manufacturing and gunsmithing in Gisborne. The approach is straightforward: understand the rifle, get the details right and take pride in the finished work.

Our approach

Good work starts
with the details.

A rifle is a personal investment. We believe the care put into the work should be matched by the way we look after the customer.

01 / CRAFTSMANSHIP

Pride in the work.

Careful machining, attention to fit and finish, and respect for the rifle on the bench. The details matter to us because they matter to you.

02 / COMMUNICATION

Straight answers.

We take the time to understand your project, explain the options and discuss the work involved. You should know what you are asking us to build.

03 / DEVELOPMENT

Always looking ahead.

We value practical ideas and thoughtful development — from our barrel range to distinctive finishes such as Aerocell fluting.

The True-Flite story

New Zealand made.
Since 1995.

True-Flite began making barrels to take greater control over supply and quality. That decision grew into a specialist New Zealand manufacturing business.

  1. September 1995 · Auckland

    Making our own.

Production began in a small Auckland workshop after delays and inconsistent quality from overseas suppliers prompted the decision to manufacture locally. Accuracy and consistency were priorities from the outset.

  2. May 2000 · Mount Maunganui

    Room to grow.

The move to larger premises in Mount Maunganui created space for additional machinery as demand grew, including from international customers.

  3. Today · Gisborne

    The next chapter.

True-Flite now operates from Gisborne under Anthony Walsh’s ownership, combining rifle barrel manufacturing with custom builds and specialist gunsmithing.
